Chris Wisse

Van mei 1986 - november 1989 assistent manager bij het Brugs Beertje in Brugge (België), een gerenommeerd biercafé.

Van juni 1989 - januari 1993 brouwer bij Domus Huisbrouwerij Leuven (België) waar hij bieren ontwikkelde en voor de brewpub een boost gaf aan de interactie tussen gastronomie en bier.

Van januari 1993 - juni 1997 brouwer bij Brouwerij De Halve Maan. Sinds januari 1994 brouwer bij Jopen.

Responsible for beer production of Jopen since 1994 and the start-up of Jopen's own Church Brewery in Haarlem 2011.

The first Jopenbeer -Hoppen- was brewed by me in the brewery where I was employed at that time. After closure of this brewery I took the responsibility for the co-ordination of the beer production of the Jopen beers according to our own recipes at other breweries in “contract brewing” concept. Worked with 5 different breweries over the years.

From 2005 responsible for technical design, selecting equipment and Installing Jopen's own Brewery which was opened December 2010 in a former Church in Haarlem city-center; as well as the beer processing equipment at the industrial zone of Haarlem. Beer production started January 2011.

Since 2012 working on the capacity expansions of Jopen which are realised in a complete new "grey field" location at Industrial area Haarlem. Realisation started november 2013; Phase one; "out of the Church" lagering - processing - kegging & botteling in operation since september 2014; pushing the brewing in the Church up to 24 brews / week.

Phase two; the second brew house with mash filter 8 brews/day; new material handling with malt silo's -bunkers, tank park enlargement, processing, kegging & utilities capacity upgrade in the industrial area building and further capacity increase. In operation since august 2015. With all this realizing Jopen's own production facilities in Haarlem from 0 to 40.000 hl/year capacity in 5 year time. Proud.

Currently streamlining and optimising production together with the Jopen Brew Crew.

2018 shifting gear; phase three started for raising capacity to 60.000 hl/yr.
