In de periode 2001 - 2020 werden jaarlijks prijzen uitgereikt door RateBeer gebaseerd op de gegevens in de database van RateBeer.

Het begon met de beste brouwerij ter wereld. Vanaf 2002 ook het beste bier ter wereld. De eerste winnaar van de eretitel Best Beer of the World was in 2002 Westvleteren 12. In 2021 eindigde Westvleteren 12 nog steeds als derde.

Categories (2019)

In 2019, RateBeer was updated to include the greatest number of styles in its history. The proliferation of beer styles and number of beers in the marketplace has increased to such a degree that the awards are no longer sorted according to style grouping but instead for each style. Each beer style category goes three winners deep. Beers are categorized according to brewer intent and labeling. In cases where labeling does not match the available styles every effort is made by the regional administrators to categorize a beer most accurately. Every winner qualifies for a RateBeer Best award as Best In Style.
