De Brussels Beer Challenge, de eerste professionele bierwedstrijd in België, werd in 2012 gecreëerd door Becomev (Beer Communications & Events) onder leiding van Luc De Raedemaeker en Thomas Costenoble als antwoord op de groeiende interesse in biercultuur.
De eerste editie van de Brussels Beer Challenge vond plaats in 2012 in La Bourse in Brussel. Sindsdien is het evenement regelmatig verhuisd en uitgegroeid tot een van 's werelds belangrijkste en meest prestigieuze wedstrijden. Elk jaar neemt het aantal inzenders toe.

2019
De Brussels Beer Challenge werd in 2019 voor de achtste keer gehouden. Elk jaar worden de bieren gekeurd in een andere Belgische stad, in 2019 in Bergen. Begin november 2019 hebben 90 bierkenners zich gebogen over 1650 verschillende bieren, afkomstig uit 35 verschillende landen. Brouwers van over de hele wereld kunnen aan de competitie meedoen. Zij betalen inschrijfgeld per bier. Onder de 1650 deelnemende bieren werden meer dan 200 awards verdeeld. Dit zijn de best scorende landen:
