Wheat Ale - India / Hopfenweisse
Beschrijving
The India Wheat Ale, is a hoppy wheat beer that can display more hop character and less yeast character than their German cousins. A clean fermentation character allows bready, doughy, or grainy wheat flavors to be complemented by hop flavor and bitterness rather than yeast qualities. It is usually pale yellow to gold but dark toasty versions also exist. It has more hop character than traditional Wheat Ales. The Hopfenweisse, or Hopweizen, is a german weissbier hybrid in which a distinctive banana-and-clove yeast character is backed by a very present hop character. Imperial Wheat, also named Imperial Weizen, are included in this category because most examples are often well hopped.
