Berliner Weisse - Flavored / Catharina Sour

Beschrijving

The Flavoured Berliner Weisse is a refreshing, low-alcohol German wheat beer with a clean lactic sourness and a very high carbonation level. A light bread dough malt flavor supports the sourness, which shouldn’t seem artificial. Compared to a lambic, the berliner weisse is generally not as acidic and has a clean lactic sourness with restrained to below sensory threshold funk. Also lower in alcohol content. The beer is flavored with a particular ingredient and the union of the beer’s character with the flavoring element is a critical aspect of the beer (For example: fruits, spices, herbs, vegetables, coffee, honey, chocolate, maple sirup, chilies, nuts, vanilla, liquor - BUT not including Smoked malt, barrel-aging or a Sour element resulting from the brewing process). This style also includes the Catharina Sour beer style, which is basically like a stronger Berliner Weisse made with fresh fruit.
